Bird Watching in Mississippi County

Did you know the Mississippi River Flyway, a major North-South migration route for birds, passes through the heart of Mississippi County?

Of the many sites, some have been officially designated as “Important Bird Areas (IBAs)," including two with global significance. The goal of this Audubon-sponsored program is to conserve birds by identifying, monitoring, and protecting critical bird habitats.  One-third of Arkansas's recognized IBAs are in the Arkansas Delta Byways region.

With spring just around the corner, now’s a great time to grab your binoculars and head to Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge. You’ll be able to spot eagles, herons, several types of ducks and many more beautiful birds. Learn more on the Arkansas Delta Byways site.
