Celebrate Independence Day Across the Land of Steel
There’s no better place to celebrate America’s 250th birthday than Mississippi County. From hometown parades and birthday celebrations to pickleball tournaments, fun runs and patriotic decorations, communities across the Land of Steel are coming together for an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend.
Whether you're looking for family-friendly activities, live music, fireworks or a chance to celebrate local history, here's your guide to Independence Day festivities across Mississippi County.
Look to the Skies Over Blytheville and Osceola
The celebration starts before the weekend even arrives!
As part of America’s 250th anniversary observance, the Arkansas National Guard will conduct military flyovers across Arkansas in the days leading up to the Fourth of July. On Wednesday, July 1, residents in both Blytheville and Osceola will have the opportunity to look to the skies as Arkansas National Guard aircraft pass overhead in a special tribute to the nation's semiquincentennial.
The flyovers will feature C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Arkansas Air National Guard's 189th Airlift Wing and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the Arkansas Army National Guard's 77th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade.
America 250 & Osceola 175 Big Birthday Bash
This year’s Fourth of July celebration is bigger than ever in Osceola as the city celebrates its 175th anniversary alongside America’s 250th birthday.
The America 250 & Osceola 175 Big Birthday Bash takes place July 2-5 and features four days of family-friendly entertainment, live music, competitions, food and patriotic fun. Check out these highlights:
Carnival Fun All Weekend Long
The carnival will be open throughout the celebration, offering rides, games and classic fair food for visitors of all ages. The carnival serves as the centerpiece of the celebration and provides fun for families throughout the weekend!
Lace Up for the Sparkler Fun Run
Kick off the festivities on Thursday, July 2, with the Sparkler Fun Run.
Participants can run or walk their way through Osceola while enjoying music, sparklers and plenty of patriotic spirit. Registration is $25 and includes race entry, an event T-shirt and admission to the post-race pool party.
Live Music Takes Center Stage
Bring a lawn chair and enjoy live entertainment throughout the weekend. From rock and country to cultural performances, the lineup offers something for every music fan.

Don't Miss the Fourth of July Parade
One of the weekend's signature events returns at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4.
The parade begins at Main Street and Washington Avenue, travels south on Main Street, turns east onto Cass Street and concludes at Kossuth Street. Expect patriotic floats, local organizations, businesses, community groups and plenty of red, white and blue.
End the Night With Fireworks
No Independence Day celebration would be complete without fireworks.
The America 250 & Osceola 175 fireworks show begins at 10 p.m. on July 4 and promises a spectacular finale to a day filled with celebration.
Gather with friends and family, find your favorite viewing spot and enjoy a patriotic display honoring both America’s 250th birthday and Osceola’s 175th anniversary.

The celebration will also coincide with the opening of Osceola's new water park, adding even more excitement to an already packed holiday weekend.
Celebrate Manila's 125th Anniversary
The City of Manila is also celebrating a big birthday in conjunction with America’s 250th: Manila is turning 125!
As part of the festivities, the Manila Airport Center will host a free pickleball tournament on July 4. The double-elimination tournament begins at noon and is open to players of all skill levels.
The celebration also includes Manila’s annual Fourth of July Parade.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. on July 4, with lineup starting at 9:15 a.m. between First Baptist Church and the monument in Manila. Residents, businesses, civic groups and community organizations are encouraged to participate and help celebrate both anniversaries in patriotic style.
Leachville Goes Red, White and Blue
Leachville is joining the America 250 celebration with a patriotic community-wide decorating effort.
The Leachville Beautification Commission will decorate Main Street memorial lampposts with red, white and blue ribbons and bows throughout the holiday week. The decorations will remain on display through July 5.
In addition, downtown businesses are invited to participate in a patriotic storefront decorating contest. Businesses can showcase their creativity through window displays, flags, ribbons and other festive decorations for a chance to win a $250 gift card sponsored by Price’s Bakehouse.
